How to Think in More Than One Direction at a Time

Worthyest

Good morning. It’s Tuesday, and your brain might already be in task mode: focused, efficient, moving forward. But not every kind of thinking works that way. Some ideas need a different path.

Today’s perspective explores what happens when thinking moves in more than one direction at a time.

How to Think in More Than One Direction at a Time

We’re trained to think like traffic: one idea at a time, in a straight line, with a beginning, a destination, and as few detours as possible. That kind of linear thinking is efficient. It helps us make decisions, organize schedules, and meet deadlines.

But not everything moves in a straight line. And not every answer lives at the end of a single path.

Some problems, creative ones, identity ones, existential ones, require thinking that’s less like a road and more like a web. Multiple branches, simultaneous angles, ideas held loosely until they connect. This is divergent thinking, and while it’s often treated like a creative bonus skill, it’s actually an essential part of human potential.

Young children do it naturally, before structure begins to guide the way they approach ideas. So do artists, visionaries, and scientists. They entertain what-ifs, explore contradictions, and follow strange associations not because they’re inefficient, but because they’re trying to find meaning where logic alone won’t go.

This kind of thinking doesn’t always produce fast results. But it produces different ones: ideas you didn’t expect, insights that arrive sideways, solutions that don’t look like the problem they came from.

Learning to think in more than one direction at a time means tolerating ambiguity, resisting closure, and letting things stay open a little longer than feels comfortable. It means zooming out when your instinct is to zoom in. It means asking, “What else could be true here?”

Linear thinking builds structure.
Nonlinear thinking builds possibility.
And often, what we need most is the space to let both coexist.

The key to a $1.3T opportunity

A new real estate trend called co-ownership is revolutionizing a $1.3T market. Leading it? Pacaso. Led by former Zillow execs, they already have $110M+ in gross profits with 41% growth last year. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO. But the real opportunity’s now. Until 5/29, you can invest for just $2.80/share.

This is a paid advertisement for Pacaso’s Regulation A offering. Please read the offering circular at invest.pacaso.com. Reserving a ticker symbol is not a guarantee that the company will go public. Listing on the NASDAQ is subject to approvals. Under Regulation A+, a company has the ability to change its share price by up to 20%, without requalifying the offering with the SEC.

The Curiosity Edit

Today’s Insight: The Darkness You Never Notice

You Blink Around 15–20 Times a Minute, but You Never Notice the Darkness
Each blink plunges you into darkness for a fraction of a second. That adds up to nearly 40 minutes of "blindness" a day. Yet your brain edits it all out, filling the gaps so seamlessly you never notice. You miss more than you think. Your brain fills in the rest.

The Bright Side

There’s plenty of noise in the world, but here we focus on the good. The Bright Side is where positivity, progress, and proof of human kindness take center stage. Because no matter what’s happening out there, there’s always light to be found.
