Reclaiming Your Attention Span
Good Morning.
Most of us feel like our ability to focus has changed, even if we can’t quite explain how. It shows up in small ways: drifting mid-task, rereading the same sentence, jumping between thoughts more than we used to. This insight looks at what’s really happening to our attention, and what it takes to get it back.
Attention & Focus
A lot if conversations about attention treat it like a broken muscle. As if the solution is hacks, apps, or better discipline.
But for a lot of people, attention isn’t gone. It’s just fragmented.
It gets pulled apart by small interruptions, constant context-switching, and the habit of checking in on everything all the time. Over time, we get used to switching away before we’ve even finished a thought.
Reclaiming your attention doesn’t usually start with doing more. It starts with noticing what keeps breaking it. The extra tab you don’t need. The phone check that isn’t urgent. The background noise you’ve accepted as normal.
A good signal is whether you can stay with one thought long enough to finish it.
What’s interesting is how quickly attention returns when you remove just one of those interruptions. Not perfectly. Not forever. But enough to remember what it feels like to stay with a thought, a task, or a conversation without drifting.
Attention isn’t about intensity. It’s about continuity. And continuity is something you can rebuild, quietly, one choice at a time.

The Friends Who Know When to Listen
Certain friends know when not to ask questions. They don’t push for explanations or try to fix things before you’re ready. They understand that sometimes presence matters more than clarity, and silence can be more supportive than advice. That kind of restraint is rare. And it’s often what makes a friendship feel safe over the long run.
